Approximation of functions from observed data is often needed. This has been widely studied in the literature when data is exact and the underlying function is smooth. However, the observed data is often contaminated with noise and the underlying function may be nonsmooth. To properly handle noisy and blurring data, any effective approximation scheme must contain a noise removal component. To well approximate nonsmooth functions, one needs to have a sparse approximation in, for example, the wavelet domain. This talk presents theoretical analysis and applications of such noise removal schemes through the lens of function approximation. 杨建斌, 河海大学数学学院教授, 博士生导师,现任数学学院副院长、副书记。2010年在浙江大学获得应用数学博士学位,2013年、2017年在新加坡国立大学从事访问学者工作。目前研究兴趣主要包括小波分析及其应用,图像和曲面处理,反问题等。在SIAM J. Numer. Anal., Appl. Comput. Harmon. Anal. , J. Comput.Phys. 等期刊发表二十余篇学术论文, 主持国家基金青年项目、面上项等。
